About the event

We all lead interesting lives. However, just because something happened in your life does not necessarily mean that it's going to be interesting to anyone else.

One of the best ways to convey your thoughts and ideas is through one of the oldest forms of communication, Storytelling.

Everyone can tell a story, but not a lot of people do it well.

Participants in this workshop will:

1. Understand the difference between the event of a story versus how you were affected by the event

2. Learn what to include and what not to include to keep your story tight

3. Learn how to leverage emotion to make stories more powerful

4. Understand that powerful stories don’t have to be about big events

Whether you are telling a story to a roomful of people or to just one person, this workshop will help refine your communication skills by equipping you with tools and techniques to quickly craft events from your life into an interesting, cohesive, and memorable story.

TESTIMONIALS

"I just started dipping my toes into the world of storytelling. Frankly, the whole idea scared me. Kevin taught me not just HOW to tell a great story, but WHY a story is good. He really knows his stuff, and his enthusiasm is infectious. Now I can't wait to get in front of an audience!"  - Valerie Kuhns

“I will take another workshop as soon as possible.  The one from last week was priceless!  I learned a lot and am very grateful that I was able to take this workshop! I can not sing the praises of Kevin as an instructor enough!” - Shirley Wainess

"Impressed by Kevin upon seeing him on stage a first time, I rushed to sign up for one of his workshops. There, he proved himself every bit the excellent instructor on the art of storytelling as he did a compelling in-person performer. His workshop is built on a practical and relatable approach first to mining story and then to helping an individual refine and then tell it. It's a craft but he shows it to be something we can all do. And he does it all with humor and compassion, directing his advice and suggestion to each individual even if in a room of many. I'm so glad I attended." - Jim McKairness

"Kevin is one of the people I always share drafts of my stories with. This isn’t just because he was the one who introduced me to storytelling, but because his insight into the craft is unparalleled. Whether it’s notes on structure, emotion, or delivery, he always provides insights that elevate anything I’m working on. Whether you’re looking for a supportive, analytical introduction to the form or a chance to hone your skills, his class is it." - Bryan Kett - 18-time Moth Winner
